Bathroom Renovation
The Patel family's primary bathroom had an old tub nobody used and a tight corner shower everybody did. Two adults getting ready at the same time meant constant waiting.
They asked for a bathroom that felt calm, roomy and easy to share.
The Challenge
The tub took up almost a third of the floor. The single sink had one small cabinet, and harsh overhead lighting made the room feel cold, especially on winter mornings.
The Approach
We planned the room around how the couple starts their day:
Remove both the tub and the corner shower and replace them with one generous walk-in shower.
Install a double vanity with deep drawers, so each person has their own space.
Add underfloor heating on a timer, so the tiles are warm before anyone wakes up.
Materials and Details
Light stone-look porcelain tiles cover the floor and shower walls, with a recessed niche for bottles. A frameless glass screen keeps the shower open to the room. Wall lights on each side of the mirror replaced the old ceiling fixture and give soft, even light for shaving and makeup.
It feels like a small hotel spa. We never wait for the sink anymore, and the warm floor is the best part of winter.
The Outcome
The renovation took four weeks, while the family used their guest bathroom.
What We Did
Frameless walk-in shower with rainfall head
Double vanity with deep storage drawers
Underfloor heating on a timer
Recessed shower niche
Mirror wall lights and dimmable ceiling spots
Without the bulky tub, the room feels twice as large, and the morning routine is finally relaxed.
